Summer in the Pacific Northwest is a time to enjoy the lush landscapes and mild weather. However, it can also bring warm temperatures and occasional heatwaves. To ensure your home remains a cool and comfortable sanctuary, consider these essential home renovations. These upgrades will not only enhance your summer comfort but also improve your home’s efficiency and value.
Proper insulation is key to maintaining a consistent indoor temperature. While it’s often associated with keeping your home warm in the winter, it’s equally important for staying cool in the summer.
Energy-efficient windows can significantly reduce heat gain during the summer months, helping to keep your home cool and lowering your energy bills.
Ceiling fans are a cost-effective way to enhance air circulation and make rooms feel cooler. Improving your home’s ventilation system can also help in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
Shading devices such as awnings, pergolas, and exterior blinds can reduce the amount of direct sunlight entering your home, thus lowering indoor temperatures.
A smart thermostat can optimize your cooling system’s efficiency by learning your schedule and adjusting temperatures accordingly.
Creating an outdoor living space can provide a comfortable area to enjoy summer without overheating indoors. Consider adding a patio, deck, or screened porch.
Reflective or “cool” roofing materials can reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat than standard roofing materials, keeping your home cooler.
Enhancing your home’s comfort during the summer in the Pacific Northwest involves strategic renovations that improve energy efficiency and indoor climate control. By upgrading insulation, windows, and ventilation, adding shading devices, and considering smart technology, you can create a cool, comfortable haven for the warmer months. Chris is the best contractor that I have worked with and I have had many over the last 30 years of being a home owner. He redesigned my bathroom and the quality of craftsmanship is of the highest level. As with any construction project it never goes as planned and he helped us with the changes as they came along. He let us know if we had any problems to contact him and he will fix it and he held true to that. He also installed a beautiful front door for us at the last minute. I will definitely be hiring this company for future projects.
